pirate kake pipe tobacco

Very well behaved in the pipe. Unlike Billy Budd, where cigar leaves are blended, Pirate Kake is always a delicious blend, both before and after meals. While a love the flavor of Latakia, and have been seeking a good, rich near-pure Latakia flavor, I found this to be bitey and unpleasant, and it tasted like it had some overly moist Virginia in it, even though it apparently doesn't have any. it is full. What keeps this from being a total lat-bomb is the dry, mildly buttery sweet, woody, earthy, herbal, moderately spicy and floral, sour Turkish, which is noticeable in every puff. I can see why some like this alot, and some who would never smoke it more than an initial bowl. This is a nice cake, black in appearance, smelled smokey and robust. The crumble cake is easy to pack, the smell is strong smoky. I have not had the need to dry mine out and it smokes exceptionally cooly and dryly. The taste on the palate apparently does not translate as far as room aroma; my wife does not much care for the aroma but she does not complain, bless her heart. Closely behind the Smoke were a pleasant medium Earthy and mild woody flavors backed up by a light pleasant sweet butter, a mild spicy flavor, a light toasty and light nuttiness as well as a mildly spicy flavor. Cornell & Diehl Pirate Kake - Having my only taste of Latakia being Plum Pudding and having read so much about what a latakia bomb like Pirate Kake would be like I went in a little intimitaded. perfectly! Pirate Kake is definitely a "Lat. Once I got it going I found it to be packed with flavor right from the get go. Being a Pirate Kake fan I'm starting to love some of the Captain Earle's offerings more and more. It isn't a very sophisticated, subtle or multidimensional tobacco, and it isn't suited for all-day consumption (in spite of the relatively low nicotine content). About mid bowl it seemed to mellow out and I did get some nice sweet notes. I suppose that there are people out there for whom there can never be too much Latakia or Perique or Basma, or whatever other condiment we can name. I love Latakia. I do enjoy this from time to time, but it is not really that great of an achievment in tobacco blending. Hats off to C&D. It is like smoking straight Latakia, really unsmokable! Still very smoky. Flavorfull and satisfying. Even so, I don't find the nicotine strength to be particularly remarkable. Once you puff it very slow it will reveal beautiful oriental spices - peppery cardamom and pine needles - never overpowered and with a nice complexity. Although an excellent smoke on it's own this also makes a great blender. It remained smooth and cool throughout while the spiciness of the Turkish and the sweet underpinings of the Cavendish also made their presence known.
